It’s Summer!

But the Blue Wave is Still Building

School’s out! We’re leaving town for regions cooler and/or beachier. Let’s enjoy our time, relax and regroup. Come back recharged.

But let’s not forget those who are keeping the fight going.

Read on for the highlights of the Texas Democratic Convention last week, but the headline is clear: our slate of candidates is amazing!! (Want to see some of the speeches we heard? Click here, page down to “For You” and scroll right to find the speaker you want to hear.) Meanwhile, their slate of candidates is a clown show. We must do the work to get them elected - for a Better Texas!

Yet again, this is the most important election in our lifetimes. Losing the election this fall will have catastrophic consequences lasting a generation or more. None of us wants to wake up the morning of a bad-news-November 4 feeling there was something we could have done to make a difference. There’s no tomorrow. We need to act now.

What can we do?

Donate to Dallas County Democratic Party, and the Texas Democratic Party. Make it monthly. The party is building its capacity to work for change between elections, as well as for elections. They need your help as sustaining donors!

Donate to key candidates - keep reading for links to candidates for Federal and State offices.

Host a fundraiser

Volunteer at the county party, or for key campaigns (see below)

Tell your friends why voting for Democrats is important to you!

Put up yard signs! A great way to start the conversation!!

Remember: Republicans are not being quiet about their intentions to cheat in November. Our response has to be to turn out in overwhelming numbers. We need everyone’s help to do this!

Look out for the following special issues of the newsletter:

Member Survey

When is the best time for our monthly meetings? Which issues are you most passionate about? What is your go-to social media site? We need your input to make our events and information as tailored as possible to YOU! Please help by sending your response!

An Automated Kitty

Those of you who attend our meetings are familiar with our “kitty” bowl - and have been very generous in donating to cover the cost of meeting refreshments. Thanks to all who’ve contributed!

But we have significant expenses beyond meeting refreshments. Software subscriptions supporting this newsletter, our website, and social media content creation add up quickly. Ironically, enabling funds collection requires additional spending, including one-time legal and filing fees, ongoing accounting fees and credit card fees. Beyond the basics are wish list items such as the ability to fund outreach tables at local political events and literature for use by our terrific area precinct chairs.

Look out for a future email explaining this option in more detail, including a cool thank you gift for donors of $100 or more!
